Statement of Communication
In fall 2024, the Hudson Valley’s most iconic resort, the 155-year-old Mohonk Mountain House, recognized the need to completely redesign and overhaul its guest-facing web experience for the existing website, mohonk.com.
Until then, the site had expanded alongside organizational growth and evolving audience needs. That growth created the opportunity for refinement. The platform needed to evolve to meet contemporary UX expectations and SEO visibility, provide clearer pathways, streamline tools, more experiential storytelling, and optimize the CMS for smoother updates, resource management, and long-term scalability.
The new site needed a visually appealing, mobile-first, fast, and accessible SEO-optimized B2C platform that is easy to navigate, update, and drive conversions. In response to the resort and spa’s many amenities, the website also had to communicate easily with both day and overnight guests.
To address these needs, users first needed to see a clear and compelling value proposition supported by strong visuals. The site needed to highlight exclusivity since Mohonk is not listed on online travel agencies, creating urgency to drive direct bookings. Lastly, the site was expected to function as a lead-generation tool for weddings, family reunions, and corporate groups, seamlessly integrating with current and future key third-party APIs (for example: SynXis, call tracking, careers partner, Shopify, gift cards, and more).
